The Laboratory at Sunyani Teaching Hospital (STH-Lab) stands as a cornerstone of diagnostic excellence, serving not only the Bono Region but extending its expertise far beyond. As a referral facility, our laboratory plays a vital role in diagnosing, managing, and prognosticating diseases, while also contributing to groundbreaking research and medical education.

Our primary objective is to provide high-quality, patient-centered clinical laboratory services in line with international standards. With a commitment to leadership and expert guidance, we strive to alleviate the burden of disease within our community and beyond.

At STH-Lab, we offer a comprehensive range of services, including Hematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Parasitology, and Blood transfusion. Additionally, our PCR lab serves as a crucial resource for clients in the Middle Belt and Northern Ghana, particularly for HIV viral load testing. We are proud to be selected as one of the two labs in Ghana for antimicrobial resistance studies, showcasing our dedication to advancing medical knowledge and combating emerging health threats.

Furthermore, our department is actively involved in the WHO/CDE program to achieve international standardization in quality management systems, specifically ISO 15189 accreditation. This commitment to excellence ensures that our laboratory operates at the highest level of proficiency and reliability.

With a daily intake of no less than 200 clients and processing over 6,000 cases per month, our laboratory is equipped to meet the demands of our growing community. We are proud to collaborate with esteemed partners such as Pfizer, CDC, and the Kintampo Health Research Center, further enhancing our capabilities in research, quality assurance, and international accreditation.
