The Board & Core Management

Two distinct governing bodies: the Board sets strategic direction, Core Management runs day-to-day operations.

The Board

The Hospital Board is responsible for the strategic thinking and direction of the hospital, governed under the Ghana Health Service and Teaching Hospitals Act, 1996 (Act 525, as amended). Its ten members include a Chairperson, a member with finance/risk-management experience, a legal practitioner, an external medical practitioner and pharmacist, an external nurse or midwife, two nominees of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) Council, a private-sector businessperson, a civil-society representative, and the Chief Executive Officer.

Core Management

Core Management is responsible for the day-to-day running of the hospital, delegated by the Chief Executive Officer under Act 525 §39(4), the same delegation basis the hospital’s Sub-BMC Management Policy is built on.
