On behalf of all staff, I humbly welcome you to the Sunyani Teaching Hospital which is the main referral health facility in the Bono region.
The hospital has been in operation since 2003 and it is strategically located to provide specialized health
care to thousands of people from Ghana and our neighboring west African countries.
As a teaching hospital, we feel a deep sense of pride and commitment to all those who place their trust in our care.
Our primary focus is to deliver exceptional care that exceeds the expectations of our cherished clients.

The STH Laboratory
The STH-LAB serves as a referral facility lab for the Bono Region and beyond.
It helps in diagnosis, management and prognosis of disease and also used for research and educational purposes.
The Lab aims to provide quality customer focused clinical laboratory services, research and medical education consistent with international standards
through leadership and expert guidance to reduce disease burden.
At STH-Lab, we offer Hematological, Biochemistry,
Microbiology, Parasitology, and Blood transfusion services.
The Laboratory Department currently has a PCR lab that serves the whole of Middle belt and Northern part of Ghana for clients that need HIV viral load.
We are one of the two labs in Ghana Selected for antimicrobial resistance study.
The department is also on WHO / CDE program to achieve international standardization in quality management systems ie. ISO 15189.
The Lab attends to no less than 200 clients per day and processes a total number of 6,000 cases per month.
The STH-Lab is in strategic partnership with
• Pfizer in research to study antimicrobial resistance of selected organisms of interest.
• CDC (Center for Disease Control) for the implementation of Laboratory Quality Management Systems (LQMS) to achieve international accreditation for the lab ie. ISO 15189
• Kintampo Health Research Center for inter-laboratory comparison of quality of results.
