Malaria remains one of the most common reasons patients seek care at hospitals across Ghana, but it is both preventable and treatable. Ghana has made real progress: malaria deaths nationally have fallen sharply over the past decade, and household prevention habits are a large part of why.
Sleeping under an insecticide-treated net every night, clearing stagnant water around the home, and using window screens where possible all reduce your household’s exposure to the mosquitoes that transmit malaria. If you develop fever, chills or body aches, seek testing promptly rather than self-treating; early diagnosis makes treatment simpler and safer.
Insecticide-treated nets are distributed periodically through Ghana Health Service campaigns; ask at your nearest health facility if your household needs one.
